John Cameron – our pastor at CityChurch Wellington is preaching up a storm – I have to say God is totally speaking to me through his preaching lately. This week the topic was “Give trials a try” – how naff does that sound!! But James 1 says that when trials come along in your life to:
- Let them be an opportunity for joy – I guess to see what God is going to do through this trial
- That your endurance has a chance to grow and then when that happens it says you will be ready for anything!
- If you need wisdom and if you want to know what God wants you to do, to just ask him and he’ll gladly tell you, be expecting his answer – don’t doubt that he’ll answer you.
1 Corinthians 3:12 tells us that a trial is our friend – because it makes us realise what is important in our lives – what is truly of value.
But his 3 main points were:
1. Nothing you will take into eternity can be damaged or destroyed by a trial – phew sweet as!
2. Don’t compromise your integrity during a trial as what you do in a trial will determine who you are when you come out of the trial. See how Job persevered till the end and God gave him twice the blessing he had to start off with!
3. Trials threaten and mess with our security and stability. Our security needs to be built on solid rock – like built on a rock will withstand floods etc, God is the rock we need to build our lives on.

My brother and I hired scooters and went for a hoon up the Spit and down to Broadbeach, that was fun... hmmm something to put on my list for Santa this christmas!
Byeeeee Eleanor - she came to stay a night with us in our apartment on the Gold Coast (view of the broadwater lagoon at Labrador and up to Runaway Bay), then I took her to the airport on Thursday to see her off for London. (sob sob... how will i cope?!)
We went up the top of Mt Coot-tha yesteday before we flew out. Ok I must admit I don't exactly know Brisbane like the back of my hand as I claim, and Brent also failed me in his map reading skills, but we got up there eventually! This is Brent, Dad, Mum and Aunty Kath with the sky scrapers of Brisbane CBD in the background.
