Naked Chef my hero
Wow, I reckon Jamie Oliver is a bit of a legend, he totally inspires me. Just watched him on 60 mins, did you know he grew up with dyslexia and had got hassled all the time at school for having to have special tutoring etc? And his Dad ran a restauraunt, and he started helping out there when he was 8 and got the passion for food. He's so cool becausehe's so passionate and excited about what he does, i loved the "Jamie's school dinners" show - that takes a big manto take on the way things have been done for so long and coming up against kids not liking the food/schools not beingable to afford the food/parents complaining/school dinner ladies complaining! It's amazing how he is still taking on 15 apprentice chefs every year - which are kids off the street which don't have much of a future and helps them turn their lives around and become amazing chefs - apprarently this is the 3rd year he's done it! And with doing all this he's taken such huge risks financially. Nice to see someone not being all like "oh i'm famous look at me" ratherseeing the bigger picture and taking action to make changes! Ahhh it's refreshing... hmmm how can I catch this wave...

Did you know that Recycling is a scam and we should chuck all our rubbish in a landfill?
Shocked at my statment? So am I!! But... see http://www.cato.org/dailys/8-27-97.html wow it's bizzare - i feel like i'd be hung, drawn and quartered if I didn't recycle - but now I know that it is bad for the environment to recycle anyway and costs massive amounts of tax payers dollars to anyway... I might rethink! Apparently the only thing worth recycling is aluminum because it is actually worth money.

U2 - Walk on

I'm reading this book called "Walk On - The spiritual journey of U2", i thought this paragraph was really interesting: (warning this could be controversial)

"The guys in U2 have made their faith in Jesus Christ known. They have made it clear that though they had feet in both camps of Irelands denominational divide, they found a personal relationship with God outside of both. For two decades, U2 has seemed suspicious of any organised religion. The band members have believed their faith lived in and thrived outside the narrow gates of religion. Bono once said, "I have this hunger in me... everywhere I look I see evidence of a Creator. But I don't see it as religion, which has cut my people in two. I don't see Jesus Christ as being any part of religion. Religion to me is almost like when God leaves - and people devise a set of rules to fill the space.""

Interesting huh... now there's some food for thought... Bono's not just a pretty face!

Ask and you shall receive

Hot off the press, church camp pics…

Wow this was the most rocking camp I’ve ever been to at El Rancho. CityChurch doesn’t ever do things by halves! It could have been PlanetShakers or Hillsong Conference for all anyone could have known – except it’s not in Australia – it’s in Waikane!

So what’s all this thing about asking and you shall receive…?? Well did you know that God responds to so much more of our hearts desires than we realise? If you keep on asking for things from God you will get them, he has all these things he wants to give you and on that day when you go to meet him in heaven you don’t want him saying “look I had all this stuff to give you , you just never asked – didn’t you know that I’m in charge of everything and I wanted to bless you, you just never asked me to!?”

1 – You need to develop a conviction that you are called to ask! We have the right to petition God for things. See Luke 11.

2 – We need to lift our expectation, 1 Corinthians 2:1 says that no eye has seen what God has prepared for those who love him – it’s sooo much more than we can ever imagine or comprehend, and that’s just not when we get to heaven – it’s while we’re walking with him here and now.

The greatest thing that you could ever imagine happening for you in your life, God has soooo much more than that for you!

3 – Align your heart, the bible says “Ask of me and I’ll give you the nations”, it’s so huge you can’t get your head around it, but whatever you want, God wants to do it as long as it aligns with his law and it’s not going to destroy you, if you have to wait he maybe preparing your heart to receive it or something even greater, just don’t stop asking for it. “Dad can I have it? Dad can I have it? Dad can I have it? Dad can I have it” duh – he’s going to get sick of you asking and just give in!!! And you appreciate it more if you have to wait a bit and persist a bit. Take the limitations off God by just praying about everything! There’s no problem with going for the biggest cookie –just as long as your motive is right.

4 – The enemy likes to get in the way to make our attitude bad and lack faith, you need to remove cynicism and good old kiwi traditions like the Tall poppy syndrome

5 – Develop a never give up spirit! Miracles live above the limitation of time. Faith is the ability to live with a hope while you’re waiting. Abraham waited…what was it… 90 years for a child? The women with the issue of blood waited 12 years for her healing – but God gave them what they asked.
